1. From mount and opponent posts arms straight up
2. Palms over under his right arm (your left is over). Push down and lift yourself off to secure s-mount
3. Secure good right arm against chest
4. Drop down to side for tap

*special notes:
Knowing which are to use to grip/control which arm of your opponent has many variations.
Depending on your opponent and his skill level, it will vary.
For beginners, today’s technique is clean and simple.
cupping his right hand with your left arm to your chest tight, dropping towards your opponents legs frees up your left leg to swivel around and over his neck. Careful of avoiding a leg triangle yourself, use your right arm to either control his left leg (pin) or his left leg (scoop).

Video 2: https://youtu.be/YENJA525fOU
Video 3:
Notes:

Today we start the guard pass series:
1. Torreando
– From standing, opponent in open guard, opposite to the leg drag, we cross grip same side pant cuff and same lapel.
– Using a ‘scissor/x’ motion of both hands, creating rotational motion for your opponent, step opposite foot to opposite side of opponent, passing his guard
– Ensure you exaggerate your scissor hand motion to accentuate the technique for maximum effect and results.
– repeat until instructions say to stop

2. Long Step
– From neutral starting position, same grips, instead this time we do a ‘windshield wiper’ motion as we long step to same side. There is not scissor-x hand motion. Your hands both move in same direction as if raising a flag
– you are effectively rotating your opponent into the opposite direction to the torreando this time.
– repeat following video instructions

3. Drill: mix both torreando and long step (x1 speed)
4. Drill: mix both at x2 speed

Title of class: Leg-guard pass Sensitivity training with horse

Video 1: https://youtu.be/CQ4nQTR5_Ts

Video 3:
Notes:

Oracle Jiu Jitsu: a Jiu Jitsu first.

The Horse: sensitivity training for legs and tripod guard pass and torreando drills.

Today, we introduce the horse concept, traditionally used in ancient China up to the modern age. The horse is a training aid, in particular, a sensitivity training tool to encourage muscle memory.

The concept rests on the idea that we use a tool, the wooden horse, to give us positive feedback in a structured manner that is both predictable and concise. This feedback loop re-enforces typical scenarios/structures i.e. in this case, the guard, in a general manner, not exactly, but in general.

Because the student will repeat a set of moves/techniques hundreds of times over long periods of time, this horse generality will give the student, the ability to effortlessly execute techniques on simply small touch triggers.

We will be using an average typical wooden four-legged chair with a tall backrest. We will lay the chair flat on it’s back for this exercise/drill.

Techniques:
1. Recap the long step, butt flop guard pass
2. Torreando drill — todays focus
3. In-step pass
4. shin sensitivity, inside/outside
5. tripod shin pummel guard pass
6. from butterfly lift, to deep tripod guard pass

Good for all age groups, skill/belt levels.

Recommended training: minimum 1/week, 1 hour session of all 6 techniques for 1 month. Repeat x3/yr.
