Title of class: DLR to RNC to Armbar

Video 1: https://youtu.be/75FyekoMtlQ
Video 2: https://youtu.be/w6Y4JVZKHnA
Video 3:
Notes:

Today,
We look at a gold certified move set that takes one from a position of control (DLR) to one of two options (among others) for submissions.

1. DLR: Please see previous weeks long notes for DLR details
2. Pay special attention to a drill we’ll practise today, moving from one side DLR to the other side. To create muscle memory, leg/foot sensitivity and ultimately allow you to blindfoldely submit your opponent (drill from left to right, ten times without fail. Once you drop your rod, start from 1 again).
3. From end positon of back take, option a) RNC, option b) ARM BAR

Title of class: DLX to triangle and sweep

Video 1: https://youtu.be/xpnblC73nAA
Video 2: https://youtu.be/OsnMjf-YPxc
Video 3:
Notes:

Todays class:

1. waiter sweep setup (recap)
2. DLR to triangle
3. DRL to basic sweep

For the triangle, key points:
– Using the ‘how to snap a stick’ principle, you must have one (1) force against two (2) opposing forces i.e you place a knee between your two hand grips on a branch to snap it. Similarly, you must grip the far side gi (likely collar or equivalent). The ankle pick is the second opposing force, and the DLR leg is the single other force.
– Your right leg is entirely free during the entire DLR
– Using this free right leg, you will draw it towards you, your DLR leg can rest on his hip (optionally), placing your right leg over his left shoulder
– lock the triangle with your left leg, as you square up

For the sweep, key points:
– Again using the snap stick principle, use your free right leg by placing foot on his shoulder (outward force)
– Push using pendulum rocking motion to get the sweep

Video 3:
Notes:

DLR series:
Today we look at the DLR to 180 roll to back take.

Key points:
1. From DLR, load up opponent stacked over shins as for the Waite Sweep
2. Using other shin drive him away towards the right
3. Hugging his DLR leg tight, chest escape creating distance
4. Roll keeping your arms in or on elbow away from your DLR, completing a 180 axil rotation
5. Back step for the back take

* Point of clarity about last weeks class re. DLR to back take. I should mention that fully extending/’deep DLR’ auto-creates a pocket from which you can enter your right foot into to complete back take
