Title of class: Leg-guard pass Sensitivity training with horse

Video 3:
Notes:

Oracle Jiu Jitsu: a Jiu Jitsu first.

The Horse: sensitivity training for legs and tripod guard pass and torreando drills.

Today, we introduce the horse concept, traditionally used in ancient China up to the modern age. The horse is a training aid, in particular, a sensitivity training tool to encourage muscle memory.

The concept rests on the idea that we use a tool, the wooden horse, to give us positive feedback in a structured manner that is both predictable and concise. This feedback loop re-enforces typical scenarios/structures i.e. in this case, the guard, in a general manner, not exactly, but in general.

Because the student will repeat a set of moves/techniques hundreds of times over long periods of time, this horse generality will give the student, the ability to effortlessly execute techniques on simply small touch triggers.

We will be using an average typical wooden four-legged chair with a tall backrest. We will lay the chair flat on it’s back for this exercise/drill.

Techniques:
1. Recap the long step, butt flop guard pass
2. Torreando drill — todays focus
3. In-step pass
4. shin sensitivity, inside/outside
5. tripod shin pummel guard pass
6. from butterfly lift, to deep tripod guard pass

Good for all age groups, skill/belt levels.

Recommended training: minimum 1/week, 1 hour session of all 6 techniques for 1 month. Repeat x3/yr.

+++++++++ guys you’ve found the bonus++++++++++

Here it is. Grab this affordable cardio monster machine. It’s a climber. It burns calories like nothing else. It builds your cardio like no other. It has a tiny footprint, if you have no space. It’s super cheap (but built well). It’s not the $5000 machines out there. It’s around $169.99 CAD (2021).

Grab it here:

And here’s your routine:
1. 5min climb / 2min rest
2. 4′:30″ climb / 2′:30″ rest
3. 4′:00″ climb / 3′:00 rest
==== beginner end here ====
4. 3′:30″ climb / 3′:00″ rest
5. 3′:00″ climb / 2′:30″ rest
==== amateur end here====
6. 2′:30″ climb / 2′:00″ rest
7. 2′:00″ climb / 1′:30″ rest
==== PROs continue====
8. 1′:30″ climb / 1′:00″ rest
9. 1′:00″ climb / 30″ rest
10. 30″ climb / END

Title of class: advanced escape from mount defence
Video 1: https://youtu.be/RHe8n2JJVzU
Video 2:
Video 3:
Notes:

Guys,
This one, (the ‘hip thruster’ i’ll call it) is from my little black book. I’ve rarely shared it with friends, mostly because I don’t think they care. But on those I have executed this on, have told to my face, how incredible the technique seemingly worked with ease.

And he was right. The principle is based on what is commonly referred to as the ‘jack principle’. As in, car jack (what it’s referred to as her in North America). When you have a flat tire, we use what’s called a ‘car jack’. This device employs a mechanic lever to raise the very heave car. Once there is space between you and your car, you can then safely remove the bad tire.

Now of course you don’t have the luxury of sitting and waiting, as you do with a jack. This technique employs an explosive hip thrust and at the peak, your forearms brace your opponent’s hips up peak height, allowing you to hip escape and extricate your first knee.

The rest of the escape is standard from the under-mount hip escape already covered in the previous class.

Remember, practise this slowely at first, step by step. Then as you get comfortable string it together into one single fluid explosive action. Guaranteed to get you out (from most blue belt and lower).

The steps are:
1. place hands on opponents hips (feel the hip bone)
2. place one foot close to your bum (as you would a hip escape setup)
3. bridge to either side, thrusting your hip up and to the side
4. maintain your hands on hips to keep opponent in floating in mid air
5. proceed with hip escape to same side as thrusting leg
