Video 3:
Notes:

1. DLR Berimbolo:

Berimbolo is an advanced move.

a) Setup with the DLR and belt grip. Using your DLR leg (bolo leg) AND your right foot (latter positioned on his waste), load/kick-drop him back behind you (left shoulder). Hip adjust as necessary if having trouble loading/dropping him.
b) secure his waste down using right leg, pivot your bolo foot toes down/heal up (ankle and belt grip still held)
c) Continue with bolo. At completion, jump/grab back (label collar is good), PULL him into you securing seat belt.
d) Arch back to stretch him out, before completing with hook.

2. DLR lapel drag to sweep:

a) From DLR, grab his left lapel
b) Kick with right foot – in same motion, hand off lapel to left hand (over your leg) AND grabbing opposite cuff
c) Using left foot (DLR foot), come inside and ankle pick
d) in one single motion, left left ankle, lapel while pulling opposite cuff (to help lift yourself) to come up standing

DLX Berimbolo and lapel-ankle pick sweep:

1. Berimbolo is an advanced move. Setup with the DLX and varying grips (back belt is best). Load and drop back behind you (left shoulder), continue with bolo to back take.
2. Ankle pick sweep. Very easy setup. Same as bolo DLX setup. Open lapel, kick, transfer lapel under/through leg to left hand.

This is the basic DLX lapel setup we’ll use for next class.

Today, we ankle pick with left foot and kick with right leg and standup to take down.

Title of class: Arm bar series: 2 of 3 Beginners

Video 1: https://youtu.be/FDx4-FJBaVQ
Video 2: https://youtu.be/gvNWSu8eR-g
Video 3:
Notes:

2 of 3. Intermediate

1. From mount and opponent posts arms straight up
2. Palms over under his right arm (your left is over). Push down and lift yourself off to secure s-mount
3. Secure good right arm against chest
4. Drop down to side for tap

*special notes:
Knowing which are to use to grip/control which arm of your opponent has many variations.
Depending on your opponent and his skill level, it will vary.
For beginners, today’s technique is clean and simple.
cupping his right hand with your left arm to your chest tight, dropping towards your opponents legs frees up your left leg to swivel around and over his neck. Careful of avoiding a leg triangle yourself, use your right arm to either control his left leg (pin) or his left leg (scoop).

Title of class: Straight ankle lock

Video 1: https://youtu.be/fz7KcSiZdIs
Video 2: https://youtu.be/F3jcBATblIQ
Video 3:
Notes:

Straight ankle lock:

Principle: extremity attack, max torque

Technique 1
1. From squated combat or sitting combat, secure opponents left ankle
2. Create guillotine choke grip across his Achilles’ tendon). There will be space. His toes should tuck just into your arm pit. Not too deep. Not too shallow.
3. Lift shoulders up, pop out chest, some raising guillotine grip, lay down backwards (onto right side is acceptable)
4. Continue to puff out chest AND/OR arch your back (looking over your right shoulder may add additional torque)

Technique 2
Repeat above but step 2 pull your guillotine hand out toward opposite (left) side tightening the grip around his ankle (eliminating any space)

* this technique is illegal for those younger than 16yrs of age – ibjjf rules

Title of class: Torreando and the longstep drill

Video 1: https://youtu.be/Xh_XTwy7RBs
Video 2: https://youtu.be/YENJA525fOU
Video 3:
Notes:

Today we start the guard pass series:
1. Torreando
– From standing, opponent in open guard, opposite to the leg drag, we cross grip same side pant cuff and same lapel.
– Using a ‘scissor/x’ motion of both hands, creating rotational motion for your opponent, step opposite foot to opposite side of opponent, passing his guard
– Ensure you exaggerate your scissor hand motion to accentuate the technique for maximum effect and results.
– repeat until instructions say to stop

2. Long Step
– From neutral starting position, same grips, instead this time we do a ‘windshield wiper’ motion as we long step to same side. There is not scissor-x hand motion. Your hands both move in same direction as if raising a flag
– you are effectively rotating your opponent into the opposite direction to the torreando this time.
– repeat following video instructions

3. Drill: mix both torreando and long step (x1 speed)
4. Drill: mix both at x2 speed
