Title: DLX Berimbolo and lapel-ankle pick sweep
Access Group(s): Oracle Jiu Jitsu Online
Tag cloud: intermediate, advanced, sweep, bottom game, control

Long form note:

DLX Berimbolo and lapel-ankle pick sweep:

1. Berimbolo is an advanced move. Setup with the DLX and varying grips (back belt is best). Load and drop back behind you (left shoulder), continue with bolo to back take.
2. Ankle pick sweep. Very easy setup. Same as bolo DLX setup. Open lapel, kick, transfer lapel under/through leg to left hand.

This is the basic DLX lapel setup we’ll use for next class.

Today, we ankle pick with left foot and kick with right leg and standup to take down.

Title: DLR Berimbolo and lapel-ankle pick sweep
Access Group(s): Oracle Jiu Jitsu Online
Tag cloud: intermediate, advanced, sweep, bottom game, control

Long form note:

1. DLR Berimbolo:

Berimbolo is an advanced move.

a) Setup with the DLR and belt grip. Using your DLR leg (bolo leg) AND your right foot (latter positioned on his waste), load/kick-drop him back behind you (left shoulder). Hip adjust as necessary if having trouble loading/dropping him.
b) secure his waste down using right leg, pivot your bolo foot toes down/heal up (ankle and belt grip still held)
c) Continue with bolo. At completion, jump/grab back (label collar is good), PULL him into you securing seat belt.
d) Arch back to stretch him out, before completing with hook.

2. DLR lapel drag to sweep:

a) From DLR, grab his left lapel
b) Kick with right foot – in same motion, hand off lapel to left hand (over your leg) AND grabbing opposite cuff
c) Using left foot (DLR foot), come inside and ankle pick
d) in one single motion, left left ankle, lapel while pulling opposite cuff (to help lift yourself) to come up standing

Title: DLR to triangle and sweep
Access Group(s): Oracle Jiu Jitsu Online
Tag cloud: intermediate, choke, sweep, control, submission, video available, dummy friendly, staff-rod friendly, illegal lower than 16yr

Long form note:

Todays class:

1. waiter sweep setup (recap)
2. DLR to triangle
3. DRL to basic sweep

For the triangle, key points:
– Using the ‘how to snap a stick’ principle, you must have one (1) force against two (2) opposing forces i.e you place a knee between your two hand grips on a branch to snap it. Similarly, you must grip the far side gi (likely collar or equivalent). The ankle pick is the second opposing force, and the DLR leg is the single other force.
– Your right leg is entirely free during the entire DLR
– Using this free right leg, you will draw it towards you, your DLR leg can rest on his hip (optionally), placing your right leg over his left shoulder
– lock the triangle with your left leg, as you square up

For the sweep, key points:
– Again using the snap stick principle, use your free right leg by placing foot on his shoulder (outward force)
– Push using pendulum rocking motion to get the sweep

* Point of clarity about last weeks class re. DLR to back take. I should mention that fully extending/’deep DLR’ auto-creates a pocket from which you can enter your right foot into to complete back take
