Title: Wrestle drills, entries and takedowns

Two types of Single Leg takedowns:
a) short distance
b) close/locked
Three entries will look at:
1. classical 1-2 drop n step (covered later)
2. far side
3. the ‘pull’ (fake guard pull to leg pick)
4. ‘tap’ forehead to no.1 or no.2
Drills:
The ‘DRIVE FWD’
Purpose: to work cardio, form positioning, finish takedown, reps
1. single leg (no.2) drive forward, keep driving unti ‘switch’ is yelled by coach at which point…
2. ‘switch’ to the other leg. Continue drive forward.
3. ‘High C’ means high crotch, where lead arm does not come in from behind, rather from front, with should in his/her gut
4. ‘take down’ means exactly that, take hiim/her down from which ever position you find yourself in
5. ‘double leg’ means that, take him/her down with double leg
– increase speed/reduce time to next action
– switch top to bottom for rest
Introduce, correct defence to the single leg, with the sprawl and top of toes flat.
The 1:1
Line up students in pairs; one on defence, one performs SLTD (do light/med/full resist).
Have students to continue to stay on toes (shuffle) vs flat footed.
Slowely increase time to next action/command
If people are having difficulty performing no.2 of entry type (far side), have them lineup in a row and perform it wall to wall. Repeat.
Alternately, continue above with ALL three entry types
Day 7:
Drill 1: Solo: shoot n sprawls
Drill 2: With Partner: shoot n sprawl, spin to back take

a and b are great options if you have trouble with the forward horizontal level change motion as you can simply drop to your knees where ever you are.

1. Classic khabib ride/dagestani control. If this fails…
2. You’ve been pushed below the kneeline but still hold a leg triangle.
– hop over again to the side, bending opponent into a shrimp position. Xface, climb up and switch to fight wrap back side
3. Opponent has pushed your classic leg triangle below the knee line delima, and stuck in butterfly
-double overs into crotch, ‘flat’ t-pee version butt drop pass to the side
– use this angle to triangle legs

Day 1. Lasso basics. The setup up. Why we do it (principle of control/attachment/creating-removing space). The lasso spider. Puppeteer work to gain feel.
Day 2. Lasso flower sweep to bicep slicer
Day 3. Lasso arm bar. How to defeat the lasso.
Day 4. Lasso tips: a) shift angle for easier lasso entry b) if sweeping over is hard, kick over with free leg

Title: Mount Series

We start the mount series.
This highly prized position, accordingly, grants the max 4 points, in a match, rightly so, as it is by far one of, if not the top positions in any combat and/or jiu jitsu position.
We’ve worked hard to achieve this position; now we have the next phase of our sequence, to move UP the food chain of control and submission opportunities.
Principles:
a) Attachment to combatant. The tighter we are glued to our partner, the more space we take up and hence offer little for him/her to use for their escape.
b) Centre of gravity. Establishing a good base and maintaining it at all times is often a dynamic situation is challenging. Through the use of basing out legs and arms and shifting our weight, we can reset our base to avoid a sweep.
1. isolating the arms via lifting at the elbows
2. ‘cutting in’ under the elbow, low and slow, to slowely finger walk their arms up
3. The leg to hip attachment to prevent climbing escape
4. The leg weave (same reason as above)
5. Towards an S-mount: Method 1. Americana Attack, 2. High mount seat
6. Defending the bridge escape with the closed guard from top
7. Defending the shrimp escape from top with knee lasso, to xface, to sit back into mount
8. The counter to the opp arm counter bridge escape to torso/arm pin a sweep
9. Countering the Americana setup with the one arm hip block – arm in triangle threat to Americana threat – get reaction move to high mount
